Reasons to use trackers:
Our GPS trackers let anyone in possession of a tracker’s login information to see where it is and has been, so as to prevent the loss of an asset or person. Each tracker has its own unique device ID number, account reference, access web address and the option of a user-defined password. Entering this information into any of the provided user interfaces gives access to the device’s current location and its historical position information.
GPS trackers transmit location reports when moving at regular intervals in GPRS data packets containing information on speed, direction, latitude, lontitude and textual location, battery level, etc. A tracker's reviewable historical records begin when it is first turned on. A minimum of 2 years historical information is retained unless deleted by a customer themselves. There is a Delete History button on the Track panel's History page.
Attaching a tracker to a person, their clothes or to a possession wont prevent loss or theft but should greatly assist with its recovery. There are also multiple alert options to inform particular people by email or SMS regarding movement of the tracker when “armed”, its panic button being pressed, zone alerts when it leaves or enters particular places, and low battery alerts.
To operate properly, essential requirements need to be observed:
1) They need to be switched on;
2) They need to have power supplied by either:
a) its internal battery;
b) a connection to an external battery;
c) a connection to a vehicle’s electrical system;
d) a connection to mains power supply using a mains power adaptor.
3) They need to be able to receive sufficient GPS satelite radio signal. This is best achieved being out in the open or near a window. They cannot be enclosed in metal.
Customers choose the time interval between the tracker's position reports from the Commands menu. This can range from every 10secs to once 60mins. Commands are sent by SMS to the tracker to change its settings. Our trackers also have a Battery-Save mode option whereby the tracker powers down between position reports which can be up to 12 hours apart. This makes the battery last many months between charges.
The Data Protection Commissioner has ruled that for a GPS tracker may only be fitted by a company to vehicles driven by business employees provided:
a) there is a good reason for it;
b) the employees have been informed of its presence and purpose;
c) that there's a way to limit its use or turn it off if the employee has access to use the vehicle outside business hours.

The use of vehicle tracking systems involves the collection of personal data as they record the location of the individual in charge of a vehicle at any particular time. An organisation using or considering using such a tracking system must be able to demonstrate that there is a good business reason for such surveillance. The individuals affected must be informed of the surveillance and its purposes. If personal (non-work-related) use of a vehicle is permitted, it should be possible to disable or mask the tracking system outside of working hours.
