This wiring kit consists of a pair of input leads (Red and Black) to connect to a vehicle's battery supply (8-24VDC) to give an output USB (5Vdc) voltage through a 90degree USB Micro male connector.

Electrical Connection:  Making the connection to the vehicle supply voltage should be done by someone with reasonable competency to do it safely.  The connections and adaptor should be secure and short circuits should be avoided.  When the supply voltage is applied, a Tracker connected to the USB Mini B plug will automatically power on, without the need to manually switch it on.  It will remain powered on when/after the supply voltage is switched off running on its internal battery until the internal battery flattens or the external power returns. Kit cable length is 1m approx, and it does not include an in-line fuse.

Selecting a location:  If the device is to avoid discovery by thieves, so as to remain in operation and concealed, its location and the conspicuousness of the wires leading to it should be concealed.  The 1m cable should be long enough to reach most potential locations. A 3m cable version is also available.  When choosing a location for the Tracker remember that it will need to be able to pick up the very weak radio signals from the GPS satellites 20,000km overhead.  The Tracker will not pick up their signal if surrounded on all sides by metal.

This is a local service only, between 40 and 100km radius from Castlebellingham.  The installation will connect a Prime GPS tracker to the vehicles 12 or 24V power supply in a reasonably concealed location in the vehicle.  This ensures that the tracker will be charged by the vehicle's battery/alternator at least when the ignition is on.  The wiring location chosen for the electrical connection will be either "always on" (preferred) or ignition-switched when not practical.  The customer will be informed of the installation location.  Installations cannot be performed out in the open when it is raining.

While every effort will be made to make the tracker inconspicuous, no guarantee concerning its non-discovery can be given. With some all-metal plant items it is not possible to find a sutable location either to connect to the electrical system or to find adequate satellite signal reception. Often it is necessary to chose a location close to the vehicle's electrical components. Sometimes wired-in trackers are not suitable and standalone trackers may be needed.

This allows the Dash Cam to be installed in your vehicle without the need to use the 12V outlet (car cigarette socket). The cable also includes a blue LED indicator to show when there is power available and when a Dash Cam is connected. If fitted to a permanent live supply, the inbuilt minimum voltage limiter will protect the vehicle's battery from going flat.
